Lake Whakatipu in April is my version of a simple vest.

It is worked with two strands of dk (8 ply) yarn held together for a quick knit.

The pattern is intended to be beginner-friendly. It is written in an expanded format and uses simple techniques. Video links are provided for techniques that may be new to beginner knitters.

The sizing is based on the wearer’s chest width and hip circumference and simple instructions are provided to ensure you pick the right size.

It has wide armholes and side slits in the bottom band. It worked from the bottom up and is seamed only at the shoulders. Stiches are picked up to form the bands of the neck and armholes.

It is named after a trip to the stunning Queenstown / Lake Whakatipu area.
