Wheat Field Hat | A free pattern from STASH for LYS Day!

Inspired by Alberta fields and knit to the sounds of Corb Lund, this colourwork hat features a cozy corrugated rub band and a rythmic wheat pattern repeat. Knit up in a non-superwash worsted weight yarn, this slice of Alberta is our way of saying thank you for supporting STASH and other local yarn shops!

Pattern Features:

  • Three sizes: Small (48 cm/19”), Medium (53cm/21”), Large (54cm/22”) and customizable length
  • Colourwork charts in both dark and light backgrounds

Materials Needed:

  • 4mm (US 6) 40cm/16” circular needles
  • 4.5mm (US 7) 40cm/16” circular needles
  • 4.5mm (US 7) DPNs
  • 2 contrasting colours of worsted weight yarn.

We used Berroco Lanas (200m/219y per 100g) in Cream and Craftsman.

Briggs & Little Regal, Custom Woolen Mills Mule Spinner 2 ply, de rerum natura Gilliatt, or Cascade 220 would all work well! We recommend non superwash for colourwork whenever possible.

One ball in each colour got us three hats - one in each size. Each hat uses approximately 25-30g of each colour.
