When in Nome is a cable-knit hat inspired by the slouchy burgundy number worn by Joyce Byers in the fourth season of Stranger Things. The pattern features three-stitch cables that can easily be knit without a cable needle, perhaps even while you’re killing it at your telemarketing job. It is simple to memorize, and knits up quickly in DK or worsted weight, which of course is helpful when you’re a busy single mom to three teenagers prone to getting into trouble. Slouchy and beanie fits are available. The folded brim will keep your ears warm whether you’re in Indiana, Alaska, or Siberia…okay, maybe not Siberia.

Materials needed: Approximately 220 yards of DK or light worsted weight yarn, cable needle if desired (this is a great hat for cabling without a needle, though), 5-7 stitch markers, darning needle.
