This hat is an iteration of one of my previous designs Spruce. I love forest / nature and can’t stop myself knitting trees! This version has smaller, shorter trees so is quicker to knit and maybe a little less dramatic.

The pattern is a chart of 13 trees, repeated just once. Big asymmetric charts aren’t for everyone, so I have included a simplified option in the pattern.

I knitted the hat in plain colours, but it would also work with the ombre wool used for Spruce. (I recommend Freiya Ombre Minikins)

I have included two versions of the chart. A plain version and a ladderback jackard version, which details the jackard stitches that will be on the needles for the colourwork section. Ladderback jackard is not essential, but really helps if using high contrast colours.

One Size. Hat is 50cm circumference, to fit adult head 52-58cm
