Crochet this stunning, whisper-soft beanie for yourself, or someone who is undergoing chemo treatments.

Here are a couple other beanie patterns that use the same yarn and also make excellent chemo caps:
Verdant Spring Beanie
Lily of the Valley Beanie

Difficulty:
Advanced
Techniques used: shells, clusters, popcorns, center single crochet, Elizabeth Stitches, working in the BLO, working in the back bar of a single crochet, working in the 3rd loop of an half double crochet.

Materials Needed:
3mm hook, or hook needed to obtain gauge
Approximately 300 yards #2 sport weight Yarn Bee Yarntopia yarn in “Hummus” - 160 yards, “Ivory” - 70 yards, and “White” - 70 yards
Yarn needle
Scissors

Stitches Used:
ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
Sc2tog = single crochet 2 together

Additional Terms:
Working in the 3rd loop of an hdc: Look at the top of the stitch, and locate the sideways “V”, bend the stitch to look at the back, and you should see another “V” made by the “yarn over”. You’ll be working into the back loop of that “V”, this is the yarn over and is called the 3rd loop.
Elizabeth Stitch: insert hook into st, yo, draw up a loop, yo, insert hook into same st, draw up a loop, yo, pull through all 4 loops on hook. These stitches should be as tall as a sc stitch.
Small Popcorn stitch: 3 dc in same st, take hook out of last dc just worked and put it through top of first dc, grab loop from 3rd dc and pull it through the first dc.
Tiny Puff stitch: YO, pull up a loop 2 times in same st, YO and pull through 4 loops, YO, pull through final 2 loops.
2dc cluster: YO, insert hook into stitch, pull up a loop, YO, draw through 2 loops (1st stitch of cluster made), YO, insert hook into same st, pull up a loop, YO draw through 2 loops (2nd st of cluster made), YO, draw through all loops on hook.
Center single crochet (center sc): insert hook through center (post) of designated st, yo and draw up a loop, complete as you would a regular single crochet.
Back bar of sc: look at the back of the stitch and locate the short bar that runs horizontal. Work all designated stitches for the round into this bar. This is a different location than the back loop!
BLO = back loop only
st/sts = stitch/stitches
sp/sps = space/spaces
Prev = previous

Gauge:
Circle measures 3 1/2” across after round 10.

Measurements:
8” tall, by 11” wide

Additional Notes:
-Ch 1 at beginning of round does not count as a stitch.
-Unless otherwise indicated slip stitches are not counted as a stitch and are not worked into.
-Unless otherwise indicated, round begins in same stitch as join.
-Mid-round color changes will be made by pulling a loop of the new color through the final 2 loops of a sc, or dc, st, or the last 3 loops of an hdc st.
-Yarn colors are carried down inside of the hat, instead of being cut after each round. This way there are not as many ends to weave in later.
-This hat has a bit of a ripple at the top. Just keep going and it should go away as you get closer to the bottom of the hat.
-See pattern notes for additional information.
