Wickerwork is worked in a simple set of alternate rows of 2x2 rib and knitted and slipped stitches, making it perfect for variegated colourways, helping to break up any pooling and let the colours of the skein really shine. The pattern is reminiscent of wickerwork, a form of furniture making that was used in Ancient Egypt, Persia and Rome, right up to modern day. Wickerwork is the perfect pattern to use up that skein of yarn that you bought because you loved it, but you had no idea what you were going to make with it.

Yarn: Malabrigo Rios, 1 skein - 100 - 180 Meters approx.

Notes: For smaller sizes I recommend working the entire beanie in dpns or magic loop.
There are two options for the brim, a twisted rib, worked in a 4mm, and a regular rib, worked in a 3.5mm
Almost all of the slouch has been removed from sizes 1, 2, and 3, as children under 12 months are unable to remove the beanie if it falls over their face. Babies and young children should never be left alone in a beanie.
