Wieck is a tunic length pullover featuring large cable panels at the front and back with open sides which can be secured with buttons (a button-less version is also included)

The cable panel is a tribute to a small fishing village, Wieck, our family lived close to for many years: the honeycomb twist stitch cable mimics the fishing nets while the modified Trellis diamonds represents the gentle waves of the shallow bay.

The sweater is knitted in the round seamless from bottom up with raglan shaped shoulders and simple 1x1 ribbing at the neck, cuffs and hem. The pattern includes the option of a sweater with open sides and buttons or with no side openings.

Reading cable charts (cable motif provided in charts only)

Long-tail cast on, knitting, purling, increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round, picking up stitches, working cable stitches, working twist stitches.

Some techniques, such as Tubular cast on and bind off, German short rows, are included in the pattern as photo tutorials. Alternatives to these methods are also suggested in pattern.

Yarn Requirement
A light worsted wool/wool mix that achieves gauge:

1215 (1325, 1500, 1640 // 1835, 1965, 2095) yds
1110 (1211, 1370, 1500 // 1680, 1795, 1915) m
Plus 6-40 yds (5.5-36.5m) for bust darts.

Yarn estimates for pullover version with open sides and buttons: slightly less yarn is needed for closed version. Different yarn needs will be expected when body or sleeve lengths are adjusted from those suggested in pattern.
