Paper Windows is a scarf and cowl design using double knitting to create a reversible 2-color pattern. Five color panels are included, which can be mix-and matched to create a custom scarf or cowl.

CONSTRUCTION:
The scarf is worked flat using while the cowl is worked in the round.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
Tubular cast on, sewn bind off, double knitting flat or in the round, reading double knitting color charts.

Guidance on double knitting and reading color charts for double knitting is included in the pattern. Both the cast on and bind off methods are also detailed in photo tutorials in the pattern.

Double Knit Stockinette: 20 stitches & 27 rows per 4 inches (10 cm).

MATERIALS

Needles
US6 / 4mm
US4 / 3.5mm, two needles, for casting on
The Scarf can be worked using circular or straight needles.
The cowl requires circular needles with cables approx. 24in/60cm in length
Please use needle size and yarn that gives you gauge.

Yarn
Two colors of light worsted wool or wool mix (9 wpi) that will give you gauge.
Scarf needs approximately 550yd (500m) in each color, 1100 yds (1000m) total
Cowl needs approximately 219yd (200m) in each color, 440yd (400m) total

  • Scarf Shown in Malabrigo Rios 100% Superwash Merino Wool, 210 yds (192 m) per 3.53 oz(100 g) skein; Main Color (MC): Sandbank (131) Contrasting Color (CC): Blue Jean (210).
  • Cowl Shown in Berroco Ultra Alpaca 50% Super Fine Alpaca, 50% Peruvian Wool, 219yds (200 m), per 3.5 oz (100g) skein; Main Color (MC): Turquoise Mix (6294) Contrasting Color (CC): Peat Mix (6277).
