The Wing Shawl got its name from my wonderful granddaughter. When she saw the finished shawl during blocking, she fell in love with it because, as she said: “Grandma, it looks like the wing of a bird!”.

It is a long, shallow asymmetrical shawl, making it very easy to wear. There are two tassels at the tip of the shawl, helping to weigh it down when you’re wearing it.

The Wing Shawl is designed to be knit using a four-color fade, but it is also beautiful in a single color. My fade is from the Danish hand-dyers Birk & Berg, who custom makes the most amazing fades.

It is knit at an open gauge, creating a warm, yet light and drapey shawl that can be worn all year round.
