The Wing Tips Shawlette was born out of a need to have a project on the go when all I had access to was my needles and one skein of yarn. The result? A beautiful little shawlette that knits up quickly and makes a perfect last minute gift.

The name was inspired by my husband shopping for dress shoes around the same time as I was working on the design. The eyelets in the pattern look a bit like the designs punched into the leather of “wing tips” dress shoes. The pattern also increases gently at the very edges, giving the shawl longer “tips” to help keep it on your shoulders or tie it around yourself if you wish. A friend of mine wore one of the samples all night and it stayed put beautifully. She said she often forgot it was even there since it wasn’t slipping off or getting in the way.

This will be available as a kit through my etsy store during the 2011 holiday season!. Find the listing here.
