This project was born of the love of my family’s Scandinavian heritage and our Wisconsin home.

The hat and mittens are knit in the traditional Selbuvotter manner. Hold the contrasting color in your left hand to accentuate the stitches.

The knit samples have been knit in both Jamieson Spindrift 2-ply and Jade Sapphire Mongolian Cashmere

Mittens:

Main Color (MC): 130 m
Contrasting Color 1 (CC1): 100 m
Contrasting Color 2 (CC2): 20 m

The mittens as knit with fingering weight yarn are a women’s medium size. This same pattern could be knit for a man with sport weight wool and size 2 or 2.5 US needles.

Hat:
Main Color (MC): 130 m
Contrasting Color 1 (CC1): 70 m
Contrasting Color 2 (CC2): 30 m

Needles: Size 1.5 US (2.5 mm) 16-in circular and double point knitting needles.
