This magical wizard is made from a simple cone of crochet. Beginning at the base and gradually decreasing up the sides. A circle of stiff card is glued into the base before you get too far up the body. The body, head and hat are worked in the round and the arms and sleeves are worked flat.

Sometimes I have sewn a sparkly braid on the edges of the sleeves and the bottom of the robe or I have used a sparkly yarn to crochet the edges. The Hobbycraft Knit Fever is very sparkly and just right for a wizard.

The beard is made with loop stitch of which there are many tutorials on Youtube if the stitch is unfamiliar. A useful one is on - www.planetjune.com/help

You will need toy stuffing and more stiff card for the book and slippers. The staff is made from a paper straw covered with double sided tape and wound around with yarn.
