Multicolored yarn, like this Berroco Sox, knit up into wonderful designs so that a knitter barely needs to do more than a stockinette. For this pair of socks, I wanted to add an element that would make knitting the socks -- and, of course, wearing them -- interesting. The butterfly stitch seemed to do the trick for these socks.

The pattern does NOT include instructions for knitting a heel. If you have already knit heels on socks, you may have your own favorite heel pattern, which I recommend you use. I like a short-row heel flap.

Instructions for toe shaping is included.

Also recommended is reinforcing thread. Lots of yarns already come with some nylon to make a sock sturdy, but I like to add reinforcement, especially for the heel.
