This mitten uses traditional Selbu motifs, including the chevron cuff used in women’s traditional styles.

One skein of each color of Drops Flora is more than enough for a pair of mittens. The colors I’ve chosen are inspired by the traditional Selbu mitten, but any two colors with sufficient contrast would produce a beautiful result.

Instructions are given for thumb gusset and mitten top/thumb top shaping, so extensive mitten experience is not needed for success with this pattern.

Pattern includes three PDF files: one for instructions, and two separate charts for right and left hand.
