These INNER WILD Celtic Mitts, made famous by Claire wearing them in Outlander, are easy to knit for yourself. The photos shown here are of the actual pair I knitted which were worn by Claire. I quickly photographed them before mailing to the Outlander Costume Dept.

Wrap your knuckles – or your wrist if you choose to wear them as sleeves – in woollen Celtic knotwork. Knit your own World Famous Celtic Mitts in any yarn and wear them watching Outlander, or knit them as a gift for a loved one.

The original yarn used on 5mm needles was Araucania Toconao Shade 510 which has since been discontinued. I now use Rowan Pure Wool Worsted and as a guide, quantity allow around 70g / 140m to make a pair.

You can wear your World Famous Celtic Mitts as fingerless gloves, tuck your hands inside or wear them as sleeves with your hand completely free as you see Claire doing in Outlander, {all the better to hold Jamie’s hand}.

Let your fingers dance a Highland Fling on a pair of knitting needles.

Super-simple instructions, easily to follow.

All materials – needles, notions and yarn – you need are included in the pattern.
