Your next act of handmade courage:

Meet Wrapscallion—a cheeky little knit that refuses to be confined to just one job! Originally designed as a clever shawl fastener, this mischievous little rascal quickly proved itself to be more than meets the eye. Whether securing your favorite wrap, taming a wayward ponytail, or adorning your wrist as a charming bracelet, Wrapscallion thrives on adaptability. Best of all, it’s perfect for using up those beloved scraps of fingering or worsted weight yarn. Along the way, you’ll pick up a few nifty techniques that make this small but mighty project a delight to create. So go ahead—let this tiny troublemaker shake up your wardrobe in the best way possible!

Quick Highlights:

Cuteness Warning: You won’t want to stop making these! One in every color!
Scrap Buster: Do you save all the leftover yarn because you never know when it’ll come in handy? Now’s the time to dig through that stash! Or I’ll do you one better: go ahead and knit a Wrapscallion with your leftovers as soon as you bind off a shawl. You’ll have a matching wrap for the shawl you’ve just made, or you can mix & match for dramatic flair.
Techniques: I-cord, working in the round on 2 dpns, right lifted increase, picking up sts, increase/decrease, grafting
Pattern: Written instructions with line-by-line progress, charts, video/photo tutorials for the tricky bits
Yarn Weight: Fingering or worsted, but feel free to experiment!
Options: Two styles: Leafy or Ribbon

Sizes & Measurements:

Fingering (Worsted)
Length (Both styles): 14 (14.5) in. / 35.5 (37) cm, based on two wraps around my wrist; length is determined by knitter.
Width (Leafy): 2.5 (3.75) in. / 6.3 (9.5) cm
Width (Ribbon): 2.25 (3.5) in. / 5.7 (8.9) cm

Gauge Schmage:

• Wanna skip the swatch? Permission granted! (You weren’t really going to swatch, were you?)
Since this project is worked over a small number of sts, I tend to slip into toy-knitting mode and work more tightly. If this rings true for you, choose needles one size larger than you’d typically use with that yarn. Otherwise, try the same size as usual.
• For reference, gauge for my samples:
• 29 (22) rnds = 4 in. / 10.16 cm in I-cord
• 3-st I-cord width: 0.25 (0.3125) in. / 0.6 (0.8) cm
