Ring in the New (Lunar) Year with these adorable Year of the Rabbit socks! New clothes for the new year symbolize change, new beginnings, and fresh hopes. They’re perfect for wearing to your Chinese New Year celebrations and for the rest of the year.

These socks are knit from the cuff down with a ribbed cuff and a heel flap and gusset. There’s a section of colorwork on the leg and a section on the instep. The pattern is written for DPNs but can also be knit with magic loop or 9 inch circulars (stitch markers are highly recommended for the later two).

SIZING
1 (2, 3)

1: Fits a 7 – 8 inch average foot circumference
2: Fits a 8 – 9 inch average foot circumference
3: Fits a 9 – 10 inch average foot circumference

Leg/foot length can be easily adjusted.

GAUGE
Colorwork: 32 sts and 44 rows / 4 inch square
Stockinette: 36 sts and 48 rows / 4 inch square

NEEDLES
For ribbing and stockinette: 2.25 mm (US 1) DPNs OR 9-inch circular needle OR 32-inch circular for a magic loop

For colorwork: I recommend going up one half size (2.5mm - US1.5) or more.

YARN
This pattern is great for using up some scrap yarn! Approximate quantities are as follows:

• MC (dark red in the photo): 40-60 g; Note that you may need more if you prefer a longer cuff or foot length.
• CC 1 (light red in the photo): 20-30 g
• CC 2 (yellow in the photo): ~5 g
• CC 3 (white in the photo): ~ 10g
