If you’ve ever wondered if you can apply bias tape or any other fabric to your hand knitted items using a sewing machine, the answer is YES, YOU CAN DO IT!

To prove it, I’ve designed my “Yes You Can Do It! Simply Elegant Open Front Cardigan.” It’s not only simply elegant, it’s elegantly simple to make. REALLY! The knitting involves some easy decreases, which I explain to you in my pattern. I’ve also included color photos showing you how to apply bias tape to the neckline/front edging of your project.

For this project, I used a Clover 2-inch/5 cm bias tape making tool to make my own bias tape out of a gorgeous brocade fabric. These are fun little gadgets. You slide fabric through one end of the tool and as you pull the fabric out of the other end, you iron the folds.

The sleeves are designed to be 3/4 length, but you can certainly make them full length if that is your wish.

If you’re curious about combining basic sewing skills with your knitting, I hope you’ll consider my design. It’s an easy knit and if you follow my instructions, you should end up with a beautiful Simply Elegant Open Front Cardigan. Once you try this, a whole new world of knitting possibilities will open up for you.

As with all my designs, if you have any questions as you work, please contact me via the Email printed on the pattern. I will get back to you with the answer. I want you to have fun, learn something new and end up with a fantastic result!
