Inspired by my favourite time of year, Zafferano sweater is an ode to changing seasons, to Autumn and its warm colors, but also to all the four seasons, to each one beautiful and unique colours, and the changing feelings they bring.

Talking about change, it represents a deeper change for me, as a way to focus my creativity in what I love and makes me feel good, and a hope, over time, to be able to apply this process to every aspect of life!

Zafferano sweater is knitted seamlessly from the top down. As I don’t like to purl, as it sometimes hurts on my hands, I designed this sweater to use mostly knit stitches, and still have different textures!
You start with a provisional cast on and knit back top of body flat in garter stitch, then you pick up your cast on live stitches to knit front top of body flat, up to underarm, when you’ll join the pieces and start knit in the round, and in stripes, the main body.
Then you pick up stitches for sleeves, which are knitted in the round up to hem.
Hem and cuffs are again knitted flat, to give a cute single split hem on one side only. Shoulders are shaped with short rows, but front and back are knitted exactly the same.
I hope you’ll enjoy knitting it!
