Crop tops can be cute on anyone if you have enough moxy! Give it a try! If crop tops aren’t your thing, no problem. This pattern includes directions on a full-length version as well.

This design is worked from the top down, so the lower body lace ends exactly where we want it to. The lace and body of the top is pretty straightforward. The only loop I have in store for you is the shoulder shaping. The shoulders are worked with a provisional cast on and then short rows are used to give the shoulder shaping a gentle curve. This sneaky trick allows for well-shaped shoulders without the need to seam later! Always a victory, in my books. If you need written instructions on the lace, make sure you download the “written chart rows” file to amend the pattern to your needs.

Sizes: Women’s XS (S, M, L) (XL, 2X, 3X) (4X, 5X, 6X) to fit a bust measurement up to 30” (34”, 38”, 42”) (46”, 50”, 54”) (58”, 62”, 66”)/76 (86.5, 96.5, 106.5) (117, 127, 137) (147.5, 157.5, 167.5) cm.

This tee is designed with 2”/5 cm positive ease; if you fall between sizes, opt for the smaller size. See blocking schematic for more specific sizing details to inform your size choice.

Yarn: 700 (750, 800, 850) (900, 1000, 1100) (1300, 1500, 1700) yards/650 (675, 730, 775) (825, 915, 1000) (1190, 1375, 1555) meters of sock weight yarn for a crop top. Increase this estimate by 30% for a full length tee.

Sample shown in Anzula Squishy colorway Vixen (crop version) and Greenwood Fiberworks Sublime colorway Seaglass (full length version).

Needles: Size US 4/3.5 mm and US 3/3.25 mm circular needles with a long (40”/100 cm) cable, or size needed to obtain gauge and one size smaller.

Gauge: 21 stitches and 35 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch on larger needles.

Notions: 7 regular stitch markers, 4 locking stitch markers, waste yarn, blocking mat, wires, and t-pins.

Techniques: Provisional cast on, knitting in the round, lace chart reading, and wrap and turn (short rows).
