This hat only uses the knit and purl stich to make this zigzag effect. The gray one is made with a heathered yarn and the cream one is made with a tweed. As you can see, it’s a versatile pattern for both men and women for a multitude of different yarns. Both the instructions for the beanie style and the slouch style hat are included.

Some of the knitting skills needed are:

Knitting in the round on circular or double pointed needles
Knit and purl stitches
Decreases

I have made this hat with a silk blend yarn too and I find that the slight shine makes the pattern really stand out.

I’ve been using two 50 gram balls of yarn consistently whether it’s been a merino wool or silk blend.
