Cast on 94 in brown (88 +6 for overlapping placket) on US 2’s. Knit one more row in brown. Knit a row in dark pink. Continued back and forth in twisted rib for .75”. I tried plain rib, but I didn’t like the look of my stitches in the cotton. Switched to stockinette on US 3’s and did first increase adding flowers in white. Along the way, made 3 yarn over buttonholes in placket to make it easier to get over the newborn’s head and then knit the 6 stitches together to begin (finally!) knitting in the round. After second increases, added scallops in brown and tiny flowers against the brown in light pink. I began bunnies after third increase (though I increased to 170, so they would center between the small flowers). Added stitches between bunnies to get to 178 and knit flowers between bunnies, knit 1 round brown, switched to light pink, and separated for sleeves: 28, 33,(add 9), 56, 33 (add 9), 28. Knit one more row, then knit front and back all the way around to create “gathered” skirt (360 stitches total). After 7”, started heart chart. After hearts, continued in darker pink. Picot hem was time consuming but worth it even though it flips a bit. Picked up and reduced to 48 stitches for sleeves on US 4’s. I tend to knit tighter on small circumference. Added flowers on the sleeves before twisted ribbing on US2’s.
