Rhinebeck 2011 sweater.

I wanted to make the whole thing in bright yellow, but didn’t have enough yarn, so went to the stash. I was inspired by the colors in this yarn, Fleece Artist BFL Socks, which I absolutely love!

I was also inspired by the little weather thing on my computer at work. It displays these happy colors when the weather is good.

Just learned how to do the cable cast on. I like the finished look very much.

Elizabeth Zimmerman was a knitting genius! Her One Row Buttonhole is great. (Pg 80 in Knitter’s Almanac.) This is another new skill learned on this cardigan.

Modifications:

My gauge is 4 st/in. so casting on 83 stitches.

Divided and put sleeves on waste yarn. Division is:
k35, 42 on waste yarn, k59, 42 on waste yarn, k35.

I then added short rows to the back as suggested by others. I wasn’t sure how it would look with the stripes, but continued in Navy and it looks great! Added 8 rows.

When knitting the joining row, I cast on 10 stitches under the arms in yellow, placing a marker after 5 co stitches. The rest of the row was knit in navy.

Increases to make a subtle A-Line: Increased before and after stitch markers on row 3 of body. After that, increases were only on the front (1 increase before the 1st marker and 1 after the 2nd marker), on rows 11,19,27,39 & 51.

At the bottom, did about 13 rows of the twisted rib in Azul Profundo, then 9 rows garter in navy.

10/3/11 -all done now except for binding off one sleeve and all the finishing work. Whew!!!
