so I’m a moron. I had a serious mental lapse and thought my size 4 DPN’s were Size 2. I didn’t even second guess it. Until I was looking for needles for another project and I realized I was using the wrong needles.

At this point, I was done with the top of the mushroom and I just left it and switched for the stem and under part.

I used soft foam to stuff the top and cut out a hole for the cat bell… so it would keep its shape better.

After I was done I felt like the under part was too long and the mushroom didn’t maintain its shape very well. So I cut a long piece of the navy yarn and picked up stitches along the purl bump top of the stem and then ran the needle under the gills of the mushroom to where I picked up the stitches…. I did this all around (about every 3 stitches) and just gave a slight tug, keeping the under side shorter and in place.
