Finally finished in time for the Harrogate knitting show! I worked on nothing else for the whole time I was doing this (rare for me!) and took 3 weeks. I made the smallest size (i’m a high street 8/10), but I reckon its coming up as a 10/12 which i’m happy about as I can wear it every Christmas and allow for middle-aged spread! haha! I do knit quite loose though.
This was my first attempt at Intarsia and I’m quite happy with how I did, the top scarf detail I fair-isled though, and the facial detail is a little ‘puckered’ but I like the home-made look. I didn’t notice any errata in the pattern.
I do love Sirdar patterns though, so easy, simple and fun.
the country crofter yarn they recommend is lovely, and good value, only thing is, as it has a slight ‘halo’ effect around it it knits up ever so slightly ‘fluffy’- which is great, but make sure your white for the snowman is also a crofter yarn as I used a soft baby dk which has come up thinner than the blue, even though the tension is the same for the 2 yarns. i was just using up stash for the colour-work. The rest of the colours are fine in whatever yarn though, in actual fact the mitten green is a Milla Milla yarn 5 ply.
nervous about washing it- so i’ll get some ‘colour catcher’ to go in the wash machine to stop colour spread onto the snowman.
