I made this pattern for my mum 12 years ago in 2009 » and she has worn it ever since. So, as the prototype starts pilling quite a bit, I asked if she wanted a new one - and she did! So I ordered some yarn and hope to finish quickly so I can give it to her for her birthday in February.
Will use sockyarn double like last time.

Casted on 96 stitches and did some math:
I have about 18 days left to knit this if I want to finish before the birthday, so I should knit at least about 3,6 cm per day - overachieved the first day by doing about 9 cm, so maybe I will be able to finish early.

Reached 35 cm this morning, so only 5 cm or 20 rows to go before I can decrease for the arm openings.
Plan to knit an attached ICord edging at the sleeves this time.
January 19, 2021
Reached 48 cm in the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 19 - I decreased 3 stitches on each side for the armholes and added a 3 stitch Icord edging worked as I go. So about 17 cm to go for the back.
January 20, 2021
Reached 62 cm length for the back, started the second ball of the self-striping yarn at app. 50 cm, the plain gray at app. 55 cm. So just about 11 rows before I can devide front and back, i.e. start to knit down the first front.
January 20, 2021
Decided to do 30 stitches + 3 stitches Icord border for each front, will increase 1 stitch every right side row until I reached original size again.
Bound off in a wrong side row, so I will have to start the second front from the middle with a right side row.
Will also do an attached I cord edging for the fronts and continue on armholes.
