Had made it through clue 1, section 2 before I saw the controversy about design. Can’t see it, but have decided to pivot to this alternative for the rest of the clue. EDIT: even though this alternative was posted by Stephen West himself as a suggestion of what to do, it has now been deleted. The MKAL went from encouraging variations on original clue to deleting variations of original clue.

Cannot post photos in the MKAL thread now unless I reknit the first clue. Stephen posted

What if I heavily modified the original Clue 1 and it looks nothing like the original Clue? Can I share my photo I want to start fresh with the suggested Clue 1 Version 3 PDF. It is too fine a line between what is the exact original Clue 1 and what is modified enough to make it different. For the MKAL 2023 Ravelry group, if it’s clear the square was derived using the original Clue 1 instructions, it may be deleted from the group at the moderators’ discretion. This may mean we remove photos of some Clue 1 squares that look absolutely nothing like the original.

Have decided to keep my heavily adapted clue 1. Stephen has asked everyone to embrace a new direction—which I feel I did when I made an immediate pivot to a new design before the third version of clue 1 (concentric squares) was released.

I cannot get my camera to capture the colors as they are. My lightest color is darker and more mustardy.

So now that I see some finished shawls with fringe, I am thinking maybe I want fringe. Didn’t love it on the sample in post #1, but I do like the longer dark fringe I see elsewhere.

Blocking but still undecided on the fringe. Will play with it when dry.

It’s dry. Great drape. Super soft. I think no fringe necessary!
