Notes

Back in February, Cindy asked me for clarity on how I attached my stuffie heads when they couldn’t be continued directly to the body. Hopefully my photos help.

Parts needed before you start the body attachment:

  • Finished and stuffed head (just finished enough to stuff, but i like to attach pieces as soon as I can)
  • A few lengths of body colored yarn (for short rows, only needed if you want the head to point down slightly)
  • Finished forelegs (specific to this pattern, only if you want to crochet on the arms instead of sewing)
  • Pre-work circle (up to 4 rounds, 24SC for this pattern, in general 2 rounds less than the first round of the neck/body as we will attach it to the body twice
  1. Attach pre-work circle to head with 24SC around (this will be inside the body and not seen, so pretty doesn’t matter, only position. Confirm you are satisfied before continuing)

  2. working only into the stitches you created in step 1 above, increase evenly around 6x (30SC)

  3. increase evenly around 6x (36SC)

  4. flatten the 2 rounds you just made, and work 36SC into head stitches and stitches created in step 3. (this is the 1st visible round and should correspond with directions of the first (or last if reversing) round of pattern)

  5. continue in pattern

Horn, Mane, and Tail all worked with smaller hook and fingering weight held single. Hooves are held double and larger hook.
