US 4 for ribbing
US 4 for colorwork
US 3 for interior liner. If I did it again, I would bump up the needle sizes by one for the colorwork and interior liner.

Knit 3 stitch i-cord for 6”.
Increase to 6 stitches, placing markers at BOR and halfway through the row.
Increase row: K1, RLI, K to 1 st before marker, LLI, K1, repeat between *

Row 1: Increase row
Rows 2-3: Knit
Row 4: Increase Row
Row 5: Knit
Repeat rows 1-5 until you have enough stitches for your desired circumference. As you get closer to the brim, knit increase rows less often. This creates a straigher shape near the head.

Once you are about 2.5” from desired length, begin ribbing. Adjust on first row to have an even number of stitches. Be sure to drop down a needle size or two.

Once ribbing is long enough, create turn:
Row 1: k1, slwyif, repeat to end of row
Rows 2-3: Repeat row 1

Knit colorwork chart (the one for this hat was 92 stitches wide. Knit plain background color to make brim liner match exterior brim depth. Graft to hat.

Make tassel and attach to i-cord.
