I’ve slightly altered the colours in this - the fun of being in the J&S shop in Lerwick and having a wall full of yarn to choose from ☺
I wanted to darken slightly the lower part of the body, so introduced a very dark grey and used the light grey instead of the white. I also swapped the ‘bright white’ for the softer natural white.
I wanted a bit more warmth in the reds in the yoke so I’ve added in an orange-red.
My challenge is to finish this by the end of Wovember!
Last day in Wovember and only got as far as the yoke - wet and windy up here in Orkney so I’ll just push on with knitting and see how far I get
3 Dec - finished all the knitting. Now just to sew in ends, block and choose buttons.
The paper pattern I bought from J&S had a small error in, but Hazel was very quick to send me the correction, so it didn’t delay me at all.
Where you pick up stitches around the armhole, just pick up a stitch for every row on the back and front (the back is longer than the front at this point) and then just decrease evenly to get the total number of stitches in the pattern for the armhole, including those of the underarm section. There will be more stitches on the back section than the front.
6 Dec - finished! Managed to find just the right buttons and it came up beautifully after washing and blocking. Very pleased with it - am thinking of knitting a 2nd one in different colours as a present for a family member. Lovely pattern to knit.
