Notes

MODS:

  • If I knitted this again… The edging of the two-colour section isn’t very neat. It’s ok because it tends to hide inside the cowl anyway, but I’d think about that more closely…
  • The one colour section curls at the edge more than the other sections, and is not quite as fat. But I really like the combination of the sections, so I might think about a moss stitch border, but then would that frill because it wouldn’t be knitted into the row below? Hm.

Comments
Laxtons undyed natural fibres, gorgeous wool but more like aran than chunky. No needle recommendation on the hank, which is fine by me. It’s knitting up really nicely on 4.5mm pins, with good stitch definition but really soft and just a wee bit fluffy - love it.

Going to combine with some green felted tweed bought in the John Lewis sale, and maybe a ball of darker green from my stash, Rowan tweed.

Enjoying this project. I’ve knitted into the row below in another project and it gives a lovely squidgy fabric. looking forward to working with 3 colours in the last section.

1st Feb
Loving the fabric these stitches create - on the two-colour section just now, and it’s deliciously fat. Slow to grow on the pins, but delicious!

6th Feb: finished, and really delighted with this cowl, think it may be my favourite. And I have lots of cowls so that’s high praise. The beach photos were taken in Troon, Scotland, and the jumper is Arvingerne. There’s also a Kate Davies Owls being worn underneath - that’s how cold it was.
