Inspired by Stephen West himself, I’m doing bright neon yellow cuffs & shoulders. The body will be speckled pink/gray/other colors, if I can stretch it far enough…

The speckled monstrosity yarn was hand-dyed by me during a strep throat-induced state of delirium. Two of my skeins had way too much black and yellow in it from a poor attempt at a color powder burst. Too much powder dye. Now I know for next time!

I really wanted a pointed front and back, so I used the Westknits pattern as a light basis for going way off base on my own. I really only followed instructions for the collar, and the rest was made to fit me.

MODS

• I wanted the body to have a pointed look, so there were a lot more decreases going on than in the pattern
• I made the body in garter stitch to work faster (to account for not really following the pattern)
• I use stockinette for the shoulders to have some contrast from the body, as the original Dreamsweater pattern features two stitch types
• I joined most seams using 3-needle bind-off in the contrast color, to give it a major garter ridge
• I joined the shoulder triangles to the body and sleeve using a modified mattress stitch, done in a way that exposes the edge stitches of the body color to give it a raised (and neater) finish
