6/3- I had to cut out the first kitchener and ruined a couple of rows, so I decided to redo those and knit up the rest of the two main colors’ yarn balls. (See picture 2 & 6 for those non-pattern rows.)

And kitchener #2 is very pleasing to look at- I followed knitty’s suggestion of knitting for a few inches loosely/not paying attention to the gauge, then going pack to those two inches and tightening them using the needle to toggle it into evenness. Common sense, probably, but never having done Kitchener before this project, it didn’t occur to me!

5/30- I HATE YOU, KITCHENER. It’s easy but really really ugly when I do it. I’m attempting to take it out and re-do it, but that’s taking even longer than it takes to do the stitches themselves. Hmph. Disheartened.

5/28- The color combination of straw and dashing is so subtle and amazing. Maybe I will make some matching striped gloves!

I don’t own a crochet needle, so I just did the provisional cast-on with a DPN and my fingers, as outlined here!
