How fun!
Since I was using lighter yarn, I added one rep across of the chart. This seems to have worked out fine. Even with the lighter yarn though, my row gauge seemed to be bigger, so I was planning to subtract a half rep up, but when I got to that point, it looked like it needed more, so I decided to go ahead and do the full 3 reps up.
I did my normal crochet over the needle cast on, which is usually very neat and is a good match for the bind off edge, but for some reason, this cast on edge looked really loopy and sloppy. I don’t know why this happened, but it looked awful! It was really unacceptable to me, so I went back over it with a single crochet (from the wrong side, to try to look more like garter stitch), and that helped to make it look a little more acceptable.
Actually the whole bottom edge seems to be looser than the top edge. I guess I tightened up as I went along, as I tend to do, so the bottom kind of flays out and ripples a little bit. But the whole blanket is rather stretchy. The yarn I used is VERY soft, so it feels quite nice, but it doesn’t really have much structure, so it really does need to be reshaped when laid out flat (at least on the carpet), and that helps to make the loose bottom a little less noticeable.
I quite enjoyed working with this yarn. As mentioned above, it’s very soft. And I particularly appreciated that each skein began and ended with the same color of the sequence, which helped to avoid all the waste that often happens with these color changing yarns. There also was not a single knot in any of the 4 skeins that I used.
And you can’t really tell from the photos, but the yarn is very sparkly!
This was a very enjoyable knit.
