Notes

Used several of akaNoraKnits’ mods, as detailed below.

Size Considerations:
I swatched like crazy for this. I was way off. 19 sts measured closer to 3” than to 4”. It’s hard to measure gauge over ribbing, as it’s so stretchy, but it seemed like I was getting somewhere between 5 & 6 sts to the inch, instead of 4.75 before blocking, even on larger needles. I really didn’t want to use huge needles for this, and I didn’t think that I’d like the resulting fabric anyway. I almost gave up and decided that I couldn’t use this yarn for this pattern, but I saw that others had, and I really wanted to. So I chose to make a larger size to hopefully finish to fit. I figured that if it doesn’t fit me, it’ll fit someone, so I decided to go for it. I can try it on once I get joined in the round and re-evaluate then.

I vacillated between making the size med or large. In the end, I figured that it may stretch out quite a bit, as others who have used this yarn have said, in which case the large would really be way too big, so I decided to cast on for the medium and hope for the best. That may turn out to be way too big too, but hopefully it would be fine. My bust is about 34”.

My Mods:
BODY (partially per Nora):
-Do not decrease between section 8 & 9 (Nora did not mention this at all, so she may have decreased per the pattern).
-Split hem for front & back after working section 8.
-Work section 9 (k1, p2 ribbing) on 208 sts (for my size, instead of 207), 104 each side.
-Slip the first stitch of every row. Nora did not specify further about this, but I did it pwise, wyif, and I also knit every last stitch.
-Begin k1, p2 pattern after the initial slip stitch. I’m not sure how Nora distributed the pattern, but that’s what I did.
-Knit the first stitch of the first row of the split hem instead of slipping it, in order to avoid a long float due to switching from in-the-round (Nora didn’t mention anything about this eiher).
-I did not work the back slightly longer than the front, as Nora did.
-Skip sections 10 & 11 to crop the sweater.
-Bind off with k2tog tbl, instead of Nora’s i-cord. I did not switch needles for the body bind off, as I did for the collar.

COLLAR (as per akaNoraKnits, with my correspondingly larger needles):
-Drop to 5 mm needle (size 8)
-Pick up 100 sts, as called for by the pattern
-Work eyelet motif, as for body section 6
-Drop to 3.5 mm needle (size 4)
-Work 5 rows stockinette
-K2tog tbl bind off with 4 mm needle (size 6) (instead of Nora’s standard bind off loosely)

SLEEVES (Not per Nora, except the cuff):
-Pick up 72 sts, instead of 69, because so many people said that the sleeves are too small. I didn’t really think that this would be a problem for me, as I was making short sleeves with no decreases, but just in case. Also, the armhole was quite large, and I didn’t want to cinch it up too much, as this might distort the shape. I picked up in every stitch around, and then decreased evenly to 72 on the first round.
-Work even for 30 rounds k1, p2 rib (no decreases).
-Then to eyelet section (sleeve section 4).
-5 rounds stockinette (as for the collar).
-K2tog tbl bind off.

Technique Tip:
My ribbing tends to look sloppy, as does the edge of my cables. In order to avoid that enlarged knit stitch, I wrapped the yarn the opposite way (clockwise) on the first purl after every knit stitch, on both the front and the back, and worked that stitch tbl on the next row, as it will be mounted wrong. This is a trick that I learned from this Lucy Neatby video.

Needles:
Body: Signature US 9 (5.5 mm). Started on 24”, moved to 32” when joined in the round.
Collar: US 8 (5 mm) and US 4 (3.5 mm), with US 6 (4 mm) for bind off, all 20” Hiya Hiya.
Sleeves: US 9 (5.5 mm), 19” Hiya Hiya (10” cable with one 4” tip & one 5” tip), 2 concurrently.

Approx. finished measurements before blocking:
Bust: 43”
Length from underarm to hem: 10.5”
Sleeve length from underarm: 6”
Upper sleeve circumference: 15”
Cuff circumference: 15”
Full length from top of shoulder at neck edge to hem: 20”

All pictures are before blocking.
