I mentioned these to friend at work who smokes, and she fell in love with the idea. She picked out and bought the yarn, and I was happy to make them for her. In return, I got to knit with free yarn!

I CO 28, then worked 10 rounds of ribbing.

Thumb Gusset: (Knit one round, work dec. round) 4 times, knit 5 rounds, work dec. round, knit 3 rounds, work dec. round.
Knit to last 5 sts, place 10 sts on waste yarn. Knit 4 rounds. K 13, place 6 sts on waste yarn. CO 2 sts, rejoin, knit rem. 12 sts. (27 sts.)

Index Finger: Place 18 sts on waste yarn, CO 2, rejoin and knit. (11 sts.) Knit 8 rounds, BO with sewn bind off.

Middle Finger: Pick up and k 2 sts from CO edge, k 4 sts, CO 2, knit 4 sts. on other side, join. (12 sts.) K 9 rounds, BO.

Ring Finger: Pick up and k 2 sts from CO, k 10 sts from waste yarn. Join. (12 sts.) K 18 rnds, k2tog 6 times, k2tog 3 times. Break yarn and draw through sts.

Pinky Finger: Pick up and k 4 sts from CO edge, k 6 held sts. (10 sts.) K 17 rounds. K2tog 5 times, k2tog twice, k1. Break yarn and draw through sts.

Thumb: Pick up and k 1 st from CO edge, k 10 held sts, k 6 roiunds, BO.
