This is my 2nd version of shrug, see my first version using I-cord ties for front closure:

For Kevin’s baby which is due at end of Dec.
Will make smallest size (3 - 6 months old).
Combine 1 strand of 6 ply “Spool of Yangrong” (Cashmere) and 1 strand of Merino Blend…knits up close to aran weight. I have not worked w/ this wool blend yarn, unsure how it will hold up to washing or whether it pills, so gauging a large swatch is required.
11/15/2014:
Gauging on US 7 & 8
Gauge - St st over 4” x 4”
Gauged a large swatch, used up all of 50 grams of 1 skein of “93% Meli Nu”.
11/17/2014:
Blocking via wet blocking in luke warm water with baby shampoo for 1 hour. Lay flat to dry.
Pre Block:
US 7: 17.5 sts x 25 rows - this should be fine.
US 8: 16.5 sts x 23 rows - FO might turn out big.
Post Block:
US 7: 17 sts x 24 rows
Target Gauge is : 18 sts x 24 rows.
My gauge is doable since it is a small item and its for a baby so if its a bit big, it won’t matter.
11/20/2014:
US 7 - Body & Sleeves
Finished Back, Left Front, Left Sleeve
11/21/2014:
Finished Right Front, Right Sleeve
Added WIP Pics
11/24/2014:
BO the 4 held stitches on both fronts (I will not be doing directions per pattern on ribbing, I will seam the sides and sleeves, then I will pick up lower back, fronts and neck so I can do edge ribbing in the round, will do 15 rounds instead of 5 rounds)
Seamed the left side & left sleeve, weave ends except those at edges (weave ends at edges after stitches are picked up)
11/26/2014:
Seamed the right side & right sleeve, weave ends used for seaming.
11/27/2014:
US 5 for Ribbed Edgings.
Picked up 156 sts. total (48 sts for back, 44 sts for 1 side, 18 sts for neck, and 47 sts for other side). Decreased one side from 47 sts to 46 sts to get 156 sts. 156/4 = 39 sets of 2x2 ribbing.
Did 15 rounds of 2x2 ribbing. BO using JSSSBO.
11/28/2014:
Picked up 28 sts for each sleeve. Did 10 rounds of 2x2 ribbing. BO using JSSSBO.
11/29/2014:
Weave Ends. Added Pre-blocked pic.
11/30/2914:
Forgot to weigh the shrug before blocking. Grams used are estimated. Hand washed in warm water in baby shampoo. The color was running so added a bit of vinegar. Rinsed. Then soaked again in with a little hair conditioner to soften the wool content.
12/01/2014:
Added pics (first & last pic), cloudy day.
Pic came out darker, its a very dark navy in color (first and last pic closer to color than others.
Baby will be born at end of Dec., pic forthcoming.
