2017.01.28: UPDATE
Post-Block pics finally taken outdoors on a beautiful day in Shanghai with cooperative daughters. It was an amazing FO photo shoot! Cowl was modelled by Arielle, petite 14 year old young lady, 5’ 7”, 125 lbs. with narrow shoulders. Cowl is in excellent condition for being a year old! This is my go to accessory for my cold neck during Ningbo’s fall and mild winter weather.
Stash busting, combine 3 types of yarn:
6ply 100% cashmere: for the luxurious softness
Fresco: Angora content + my allergies = not good; however, combination with the other yarns will decrease the ratio of Angora content to the other fibers.
Cascade: for the bounce & elasticity of wool, shows off cables beautifully.
Alternate Yarn:
Silky Wool: I think this yarn is Silky Wool, was all ready wound into ball and there was no label; however, its texture feels like Silky Wool. It will stand in for the cascade (not enough of Cascade in blue color)
6ply: 2 strands blue + 1 strand black (begin w/ 89 grams)
Cascade: (begin with 100 grams)
Fresco: (begin with 51 grams)
All yarns are pulled via center pull except Fresco (very sticky yarn, wound it on a cone)
Combination of all 3 yarns reduce the fluff of Fresco and it’s not shedding (was worried about the angora content).
No Gauge done. Winged it. Will be a surprise of how it will end up.
2016.01.09:
on 2nd skein of Fresco (skein wt: 51g)
CRAP: Almost running out of Cascade (not sure how much was on skein before starting), cannot find other skein. Will incorporate blue DK yarn (I think its Silky Wool, but unsure) and pull from both ends. Alternate rnds using Silky Wool and Cascade in order to better blend in the Silky Wool. It was good that the Silky Wool & Cascade is a close match in color.
2016.01.10:
After 1st decrease rnd: 98 sts on needles
After 2nd decrease rnd: 84 sts on needles
Alterations after last cable rnd:
On 6th Rnd: decrease rnd - 70 sts on needles
On 8th Rnd: decrease rnd - 56 sts on needles
did extra decrease rnds since the circumference turned out big due to not gauging and not using bulky yarn but rather creating one via combining multiple yarns.
Next Rnd: BO per pattern
FO weight: 248 grams
6ply cashmere: 58 grams
Fresco: 70 grams
Cascade: 100 grams
Silky Wool: 20 grams
