Notes

December 14, 2021

My husband’s family liked my Miss Grace Blanket so much that they asked me to make a similar one for our shared cottage.

The first step is to agree on the colours. I bought about a dozen hanks of Cascade 220 and will leave them at the cottage for each family group to have a look and make their suggestions.

Came across this video on a better way to do short rows for garter stitch. How to Make Shadow Wraps in Garter Stitch. I had used a simple wrap & turn (without picking up the wraps) for my previous blanket.

After input from various family members we have decided on the colours from Cascade 220 Worsted:
8011 - Aspen Heather
8010 - Natural
1037 - Faded Denim
2441 - River Rock

After even further discussion, we decided to add a few stripes of the two darker colours, but not as often as the lighter ones.
9326 - Colonial Blue
8013 - Walnut Heather

Cast on 234 stitches using a provisional crochet chain. Will ultimately use those live stitches later for the i-cord.

On Feb 17 I had some emergency eye surgery. For the first week of recovery there was lots of knitting and Netflix, so I’m already almost 20% done. It’s amazing that I could knit with one eye, but with worsted weight it’s not so bad. Socks will have to wait. I’m sure my progress won’t be quite so advanced as I get back off the sofa to some normal activities.

If anyone is interested, detailed notes for how I made the shapes are in the project notes for my first blanket: Miss Grace Blanket

Finished the stripes.

November 6, 2022

I-cord finished. 3-stitch i-cord using a 6mm needle. Did it from the back so that dark colours wouldn’t show.

November 10, 2022

Wet blocked it. Took two days to dry because it was hard to squeeze out all the water.
