I have this idea that I can knit up all my sport yarn leftovers into garter squares (approx 15x15 cm), and at some point I’ll have enough squares to make a blanket. My goal is to have at least 100 squares. I’ll have to buy some new yarn as well.

I imagine it as an “in between” project that I can pick up when I need something simple. I also really want to let other people knit some rows or squares, because I love the thought of having a blanket that my friends and family have contributed to.

I’m using different needles because Drops Karisma is looser than the Sandnes yarn, and has to be knit on smaller needles to get the same gauge.

Pattern for square:

• CO 30 sts loosely. Leave a long tail to use for sewing squares together.
• Knit in 59 rows in garter stitch (30 garter ridges). No slipped sts.
• BO so tail ends up on opposite side from cast on tail. Leave this tail long as well.

Progress:
10 squares count as 5% finished.
April: 8 squares.
May: Used up my last scrap yarn. Bought 5 skeins Drops Karisma from Nordic Mart. 18 squares.
June: Got my mojo for bigger projects back and took a blanket break.
July: Back in Norway I got 4 skeins of Mor Aase Superwash. 19 squares.
August: 25 squares.
September: 34 squares
