Another Cath Kidston throw, as I was going away to my daughters holiday caravan for 9 days and needed something quick to pick up easily in between outings and being with the grandchildren.
Whilst in Great Yarmouth, we had a lovely trip to Norwich and went to the theatre to see Mary Poppins. It was absolutely fantastic, we thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Even better than Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which we saw a few months ago here in Southend.
I am using red every 4th round, so once on the 4 round squares and twice on the 8 round squares.
Desperately looking for a new project to undertake, but until one takes my eye, I will carry on making this throw bigger. I have decided it would look nice on the back of the settee in the conservatory.
The current granny stripe blanket has definitely seen better days. It has noticeably faded from bright vibrant colours to very dull pastel shades and is in desperate need of retirement poor thing! The new kittens can have it now.
On the lookout for the next project, what to choose?
I used Bunny Mummys method here for the first round of border, so no ruffles:)
I used the jayg method to join the squares, there is a great tutorial here for this technique.
Border:
I wanted a pom-pom border like I made for this blanket and when I saw Moji-Moji’s lovely blanket I thought it would be a good idea to try to make the pom-poms closer to the blanket like hers, so that the kittens didn’t find them too much of a temptation.
I went around the entire blanket with a second round of red first and then continued as follows:-
In corner chain 2 space, sc, ch3 and work 4 dc into top of sc, remove hook and place into 3rd of beginning ch3 and pull yarn through, making a popcorn st, ch1 to secure, sc back into the same space as the beginning sc, sc into next 3 sts, which should bring you to the middle of the next 3dc cluster* and repeat from * to ** all around.
It took about 125gms to complete the pop-pom round alone, but I think it was worth it. I am very pleased with the look of the pom-poms.
