Update: May 2023.
As I hadn’t gifted this blanket, I decided to take it apart and managed to make 3 smaller blankets for Charity.
I donated these blankets to my local hospital.
Yes, another bear blanket. My daughters love these and always want me to make one for their friends new babies.
I am making pink because I a fed up with the beige and cream blankets. I have already made a blue one, so I am set for all eventualities:)
I made this a little larger, suitable for a cot.
I finish my teddy squares a little differently to the pattern, making them into granny squares, which I find easier to join with the join as you go technique and they match the granny squares too. There is a great tutorial here.
I like the nose to stick out a little so when I finish of the snout colour, I leave an extra length of yarn and I anchor this all around the next round. When I have completed the square, I pull this yarn and it gathers up to make a cup for the stuffing and I then use the remainder yarn to anchor the stuffing in place.
Then I embroider the features and I make a sc disc for each teddy and sew that onto the back to hide the embroidery stitches and stuffing on the rear and to make it look neater.
For the alternate squares, I chose the square no: 53 from 99 Granny Squares to Crochet Book, as usual, but I added and extra round of petals before finishing with 2 rounds of plain granny stitch, as this is a girly blanket.
