I’m making lots of baby blankets at the moment for all of the new arrivals due this year.

This one is a subtle peachy pink and white.

Colour sequence:

Rounds 1 - 6 White
* Round 7 pink
Round 8 white
Rd 9 - 12 pink
Rd 13 White
Rd 14 pink
Rd 15 - 18 white
Rd 19 pink
Rd 20 white
Rds 21 - 14 pink
Carry on from * until desired length. I usually work until I have 30 stitches on each side of the peak.

When I’ve made these blankets in the past they didn’t lay as flat as I would have liked. I think there were too many stitches, so I adjusted the pattern a little and it seems to have worked.

This is my alteration if you’re interested:

Rounds 1 - 5 as pattern
Round 6 Small shell + 2 dc’s
Round 7 Large shell + 2 dc’s
Round 8 Large shell +3 dc’s
Round 9 Small shell + 4 dc’s
Round 10 Large shell + 4 dc’s
Round 11 Large shell + 5 dc’s

When you look at the pattern it is 2 rounds with large shell and the 3rd round with small shell, which keeps it flat.

The pattern is written with rounds 4, 5 and 6 with large shells, so by changing round 6 to small shells is keeping the sequence correct and the right amount of increased stitches.
