Notes

Started over with proper yarn. Cast on 240 sts to get gauge. Finally knitting something for myself… this one is going to take a while, I especially dont like the knit from the back - its very awkward with the large needles. Buuut, im already on my 8th row and its looking great! Cant wait…

Jan-12. I’m almost done yay! It’s a long knit but it is rewarding! Will definitely block it! the yarn is nice but the gauge of the wool itself changes throughout the skein - it was super thin in some spots which drove me crazy!

I’m going to ny next week and will certainly pick up the blue sky worsted yarn used in the original pattern and try making myself another one!!

Jan-13. So I noticed I was running out of yarn midway through a row 1 ( knit). I knew for sure I wouldnt be able to get through it plus an entire row 2 ( purl) without running out of yarn. I made the HUGE mistake of trying to cast off on a purl row. I’m not sure why but the stitches were all tangled and mangled and I thought I ruined the scarf. Two weeks of this god forsaken awkward stitch, three different yarns swatched and reading every single tip on ravelry on making this cowl, and I was about to have to toss it down the garbage shute……..I had zero success fixing any mistakes made using this stitch but I was extremely careful - so careful I think I only made 2 little errors - and now it looked like my cowl was pooched.

I went to bed, and with my fresh morning brain, I threaded circular 8US 32” needles through the 240 stitches three rows below. I then pulled out the three ruined rows above, purled a row 2 and then cast off on a knit row like I was supposed to. Cast off on a 15US dpn for a tighter finish but in my opinion it was a bit tight when I was blocking.

Updated pics - its difficult to get a good picture of the colors but 1 and 4 are the truest.
