Making a 3-color Musselburgh to go with my Elbow River shawl.

WBAMA = Whiskey Barrel, Antique Moonstone, Aura

See my first 3-color Musselburgh
. Crowns: 46g each
. Middle helical: 31g

. Crowns: Whiskey Barrel and Aura
. Helical stripe in the center: Antique Moonstone
. Crowns+40 rounds
. Striping 60 each crown color
… Going with AM for the striping because I don’t want to risk blobby pooling on the crown

CAST-ON
. KnitPink’s slow-mo Pinhole cast-on
… Quite fiddly on the dpn’s
… Trying a new approach this time
… Doing the kfb’s right away
… Tighten with the tail, then slide the stitches to the right
… KFB 2 stitches onto another DPN, repeat until 16 sts on 4 dpns.
… I have a hard time adjusting my left hand to hold the CO like Staci Perry does. This time, my CO sts were not too tight to inhibit KFBs.
… Looks a little puckered. I took a photo and will do a comparison with another one after blocking.

CROWNS
. increase up to 144 sts (36 per dpn)
. in addition to the increases/decreases: 40 rounds

! Remember - the decrease crown is SSK-knit-K2tog for nicer looking lines. I got it wrong on my Tarte Mbgh and it isn’t as cool.

BRIM
. Midsection - folded
… 120 rounds
… The hat is folded in half, so 12” = 6” which is folded again for the brim, so 3” brim which is a little more than the height of my ear.

. Helical
… stop 3 sts before next color
… a little looseness is fine with transition

Weaving in ends
. I get a pinched look from weaving my ends
. Trying the over/under with starting the new color and weaving the ends in. Still a little pinchy, but not as bad.

Question?
. Decreases are SSK to K2tog
. But the very last set is K2tog, SSK. I’m not sure how/why this might matter? This time, I made them SSK, k2tog to match.
