Notes

Kit says to knit the small shawl and do the honeycombs until all the Funky Chunky is used up.

I made a checklist to keep track of the pattern repeats, you can view/download it from my Google Drive here.

September 30, 2024

Make sure your Contrast Colour does in fact contrast with your Main Colour. One end of my CC did not and of course it was the end I started with. I can’t see the CC in the Dot Section at all.

I’m going to rip back to the first colour change and restart with the OTHER end of the Funky Chunky.

I’m counting on the colour being more noticeable in the wider sections of the honeycomb with the colours stacking on top of each other instead of fighting to pop through the main colour.

October 3, 2024

Finished the Dot Section.

October 5, 2024

Started the Honeycombs and they’re easier than I thought they’d be.

October 10, 2024

Finished the honeycombs needed to make the small shawl. I’m going to keep making them until I run out of my contrast yarn. I’d like to get 3 more honeycomb rows, but wouldn’t balk if I got more.

October 12, 2024

I was able to get 4 extra honeycombs (B,A,B,A) before I ran out of yarn. I liked where I ran out because the yarn was starting to get dark and I would’ve lost the contrast with the main colour.

The Iceland bind off seems to use very little yarn.

October 13, 2024

Wet blocked it today. I didn’t look at the pattern schematic or what others did because for some reason my dumb-dumb self blocked it in the shape of a trapezoid instead of a triangle.

In my defence I found the finished shawl to be very long and I blocked it to gain a lot of vertical height in hope to pull back some of that length.

October 15, 2024

Wore this for the first time today and the length is long but easy to scrunch up around the neck and snuggle into.

This is the warmest shawl I’ve made, I don’t know if it’s the wool or the stitch type. I’m really looking forward to wearing this in the winter.
