It’s taken HOW LONG??? Finished at last. I think I will like wearing it, so it’s been worth all the hassle. Love the colourway, love the wool although how anybody gets the guage on 3.5mm is beyond me. I am pleased with the neck, which was a bit of a nailbiter as I had to adapt the pattern and I offer huge thanks to the notes put up by Ravellers SaraNY and youtee.
I am pleased that the central motif is actually central, less pleased with the wonkiness going on around the raglans, but if I keep waving my arms around while I wear it, no one will notice!

Pulled out and started YET AGAIN on 4mm needles. I’ve left the sleeves as they are on 3.75mm

Started again on 3.75mm needles. Feels a much more relaxed fabric.
Reached the beginning of the steeking. However, I’m going for a crew neck so tried it on. I do like the shaping of the yoke. This is my 2nd KD yoke pattern and I think she grades them beautifully. I’ll try and take a better photo as this doesn’t show the shoulders.

Decided to frog. I got as far as the underarm, tried it on and it’s way too snug on 3.5mm. Had a few days thinking - shall I carry on and give it to someone slimmer than me? NO! I’ll frog and try 4mm. TBH, I didn’t much enjoy knitting it on 3.5mms, the yarn always felt too thick for the needles. Don’t think I’ll get it done for August now, unless with the larger needles it flows better.
Taking a break while I knit a few other things - but that yarn is too lovely to waste. I’ll be back!
February 2017
This is going quite slowly as I’m on the sleeves of Orkney 2, a Fair Isle cardigan, and it’s the exciting race for the finish line on that project. The Oa is my relaxation from that. However, there’s no rush as I plan to give The Oa its first outing on my Lake District holiday, last week in August.
I’ve used Kate’s colourway but swopped it around as Im a mucky pup and there’s no way hillwalking in a white jumper is going to work for me!
