After seeing this blanket I decided to learn to do Tunisian Crochet. I bought the yarn in the same colours, which I don’t usually like to do but I didn’t want to spoil it by making wrong choices. If I like it I’ll make another later in colours of my own choosing.

First attempt curled up like mad. I’d only done 1.5 squares so I frogged and did the stitches much looser. I also made my first stitches in the ‘nobble’ at the back of my starting chain which I read could help.
These seemed to do the trick to a certain extent. The bottom still curls, but I gather that blocking and a border will cure that. Poppy and Bliss has confirmed this.

One other thing - I’ve seen people saying too many ends, but you carry the colour up the sides of each square, and only fasten off when that colour stops. Don’t think you have to fasten off every other row.

Life has intervened in this project in a big way, so my progress is a bit erratic and slow. However, I am enjoying the gentle rhythm of the Tunisian - I am only halfway up the second strip but it is definitely growing on me.
The join as you go was difficult at first - mainly because I didn’t know what I was doing - I need to understand the effect of a stitch before I can work out when I have gone wrong and how to fix it. Anyway, when joining, you are effectively carrying on the rtpss from the square you are joining to - NOW it makes sense to me and I can quickly see whether my turning stitch is right or not.

Oh yes, I proudly held up the 1.5 strips to my son who immediately said it reminds him of a sunset! Wow, well done poppyandbliss !**

Gosh, has it really taken me this long. I’m partway up the 6th strip now. It has become my pick up/put down
Project and is growing slowly but lovingly.

Finally finished today. I completed the strips at the turn of the year and did the first round of the border, but I had to frog it because I didn’t have enough cream to do one round, let alone 2 as the pattern suggests.
I started the border again last week using the colours that I had most of. Tbh all the colours work so beautifully together that I really don’t think it matters.
The curling of the bottom row pulls the border slightly but I think it will be fine when it is blocked.

Such a pretty pattern, pretty yarn, pretty colours……pretty, pretty throw.
