Knitted and felted pie made for a Nerd Wars 7 challenge, about a Nerd Dream Date. I chose Ned the Piemaker from Pushing Daisies and strawberry to tie into my team, Browncoats (Kaylee loves her strawberries!).
I chose this Red Heart Shimmer yarn so that the sparkly bits could represent the seeds; intarsia was enough for me!
2/13 felted the knitted “tin” today; was excited to get this part done, I forgot to take pre-felting pics. I machine washed the “tin” to felt it, and it came out a flat round. I then stuck it in this pie dish, added some more water to make the sides fit the dish and it came out well. Now it’s just drying and waiting for the top crust to be sewn on. Just received the crust yarn in the mail yesterday.
2/16 I lightly hand blocked the crust to the size I needed yesterday. Today I sewed the crust to the tin, leaving only about 7 or 8 inches open to weave a drawstring through and so that I have an opening to stuff the pie with strawberries! I also laid out some red yarn under the strawberries to represent the sauce they make when they cook up into a pie for real.
