i used an i hook for the pooling piece and an h for the hexagons.

1 skein of seaside ombre measured 32” x 18.5”

4 color sequences across

color sequence:

dark blue (3)
turquoise (3)
lime green (3)
white (3)
lime green (3)
turquoise (3)

i started with 7 rows stacking
16 rows offset by one (argyle)
10 rows stacking

when trying to join the next skein of seaside ombre, the sequences weren’t matching up, so i decided to do something different and make two patterns in one. i created a spreadsheet of hexagons in coordinating colors and decided to attached it to the pooling panel.

i attached all of the hexagons with an i hook and the join as you go method with the blue mint yarn. then i went around each side of the hexagon panel with sc in each stitch, maintaining an accurate count for each hexagon. for each corner, i did (sc, ch2, sc).

i filled in the missing spaces in the hexagon panel (triangles) with the following stitches in each, starting with the peak, down to the valley, and back up to the peak:
sc, sc, hdc, hdc, dc, dc, dc, tr, tr2tog, tr, dc, dc, dc, hdc, hdc, sc, sc.

after filling in the hexagon panel with “triangles”, i used the blue mint yarn to make another border row. i had to decrease (sc2tog) on every other stitch on the top of the “triangles” so the panel would be a perfect rectangle. i used an i hook to go around the hexagon panel one more time.

i lined both panels together and attached the hexagon panel to the pooling panel with the dark blue yarn using the moss stitch on the planned pooling panel. instead of chain 1, i slipped stitched through the corresponding stitch of the hexagon panel.

i wanted the final border top look like the stripes in the center of the blanket, so i had to adjust my stitch numbers on my first row of moss stitch by adding a few more moss stitches. the border is 9 rows of moss stitch with an i hook and ending with a row of sc in each stitch and ch1 space below.
